Next week we will hold the second edition of our #EasyVC office hours. The first edition was in December 2020. We got great feedback from the participants. So, we decided to do them at least once a quarter.
The concept is simple. It is a series of meetups (online of course, but we will also do in-person events when possible) where early-stage startup founders can exchange, in unformal 1:1 meetings, with VCs and network with other founders: How to raise money, how to improve your pitch, how to go about your first sales, how to grow an organization, etc.? Not the typical investor pitch session, but a place to get honest, constructive input.
#EasyVC is the revival of our Europe's Female Founders (EFF) office hours, which we launched in the summer of 2017, and held in various European cities until 2019. The mission was clear: Founders and everyone who wants to build a career in tech can hang out with and get practical advice from successful European female founders and VCs.
Since then, we have had many entrepreneurs from all backgrounds reach out to participate. So, we decided to broaden the scope and give everybody the opportunity to join.
Why are we doing this?
For the same reason I am writing this blog: Share insides of the VC game, because access is everything. It is hard to get a handle on the tech ecosystem from the outside. While much more transparent than 10 or 15 years ago, the tech world is in constant flux, and there is a lot of old and new information to digest for entrepreneurs.
#EasyVC is building on this. First, I can give much more tailored advice. But, what I like most about office hours is that many of the people I meet would not have gotten a chat with me or any other participant otherwise. I talk a lot about finding 'outliers' and how important that is in VC. Although I've yet to meet an entrepreneur from the office hours I want to back, I am confident that it will happen, and it will be a person we would not have met through our usual process.
Let's meet
So, if you are in the early stages of building a tech company, we would love to meet you! Join Shiraz, Mathieu, and me for the next #EasyVC session - you can apply here.
Life is awesome,
Yannick
